Sustainable, inexpensive living
Team CASA is almost ready to prove that sustainability and affordability can go hand in hand! If we want to live within the limits of what the earth can handle, we have to live differently. Team CASA has made a design for this: CASA 1.0. This design adheres to the CASA principles: Comfortable, Affordable, Sustainable Alternative. With our integrated approach we take all aspects of sustainability into account and we make sure that comfort of living is maintained, or even improved. For more information about our project, please visit teamcasa.nl/projects.
We now ask for your help! We have finished the design. Now the only thing that remains is the last bit of money to be able to start building. After all, the building will be affordable, but developing the full design of such a building comes with initial, one-off costs.
Goal 1: We store our energy in water in the form of heat, a cheap, sustainable and safe alternative to batteries, and more than half of the energy demand in a house goes to heat. For this, we have a large water tank, the HoCoSto STES (Seasonal Thermal Energy Storage) under the house. We still need € 5000 to place this STES!
Goal 2*: To be announced
Goal 3*: To be announced
Goal 4*: To be announced
* Goal 2, 3, and 4 are not essential for the start of the building. They will, however, be additions that will strengthen the concept of CASA.

Team CASA is a student team from the Eindhoven University of Technology and consists of 22 enthusiastic students from almost all TU/e faculties. For example, we have people from mechanical engineering for the water supply of the house, people from computer science for the control system and, of course, people from built environment engineering for the construction and design of the house.
The team is led by an interdisciplinary four-person board. These perform the financial, planning and management tasks.
In addition to the board, we have three sub-teams. Team Technology is responsible for the design of the energy flows, both heat and AC and DC electricity, and the control system. Team Building is responsible for the architectural design of the house. Consider, for example, the architecture or the structural design. Finally, there is External Affairs. This team takes care of the promotion and events of the team.
Everyone who participates in this project does this completely voluntarily. This means that no one gets money or credits to participate. Because everyone works with an intrinsic motivation to improve the built environment, our design can go further than most companies.

Team CASA's mission is to accelerate the energy transition in the built environment. We do this by bringing together the academic and business world. For example, we have many companies that already help us and have helped us with the design of CASA 1.0. while we were able to adhere to the CASA principles: Comfortable, Affordable, Sustainable Alternative.
Comfortable
Designing homes with comfort and health in mind ensures that people want to live in them. In addition, homes should provide a healthy indoor climate and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Affordable
More often than not, what limits the availability of a technology to the general market is its cost. By improving efficiencies in materials, time and energy, these new homes should be no more expensive than an average home.
Sustainable
Currently, we need more than three times the land area available on earth to sustain our society. Homes should be designed so that the ecological footprint of its residents is neutral or even better.
Alternative
Even though many concepts have already been developed, often nothing happens. We want to create an alternative for now. This means that we use techniques that already exist, so that sustainable living is not a vision of the future, but something that can now be realized.
