Blue Jay drone: Lends a helping hand during a fire
In the evenings, the shortage of emergency response personnel in care homes is a major problem. When a fire breaks out and the alarm sounds too late, the firefighters will not be able to arrive on time. This leads to unnecessary accidents.
The Blue Jay drone, developed by the student team Blue Jay Eindhoven, can detect the fire in an early state and then assist the residents and the firefighters. In this way, Blue Jay is able to save lives!
With your contribution, we can go a step further in making the assistant drone in dangerous fire situations and thereby save grandmas and granddads.

A shortage of emergency personnel at evenings and nights is often the problem in nursing homes. When a fire breaks out in these homes, the firefighters are often late or have extra workload to evacuate the occupants and extinguish the fire. What if a drone can help detect fire and evacuate residents?
At Blue Jay we build interactive, helpful, safe and autonomous indoor drones. In collaboration with the fire department, we are building a drone that can assist during emergencies, such as a fire in nursing homes. During this situation, the drone is on standby, detects the fire and is activated. She will wake up the residents and assist them to a safe place outside. This happens before the fire-fighters have arrived. The drone can then assist the firefighters via the shortest route to the fire. Blue Jay will assist in saving lives!
Blue Jay is a student team of Eindhoven University of Technology. Our team consists of 16 students who voluntarily work on an innovative project during their studies. This project also presents many challenges, such as 'how to make a drone completely autonomous?' or 'How to develop a drone that is as safe and efficient as possible?'
We are working hard to solve these challenges but need your help! With your contribution, we will be a step further in making the assisting drone in dangerous situations and thereby save your sweet granny.
Would you like to contribute so that we can develop Blue Jay newest autonomous drone assistant?
