Thank you for your interest in our campaign!

We are team IGNITE, a team of TU/e and Fontys Hogeschool students with a passion for light and design. After the success of the cubes in 2019, we decided to focus on connecting people. Looking at all the lost connections due to COVID-19, we can conclude that restoring these contacts is important for people’s wellbeing [1]. Our team tries to create social cohesion between individuals within crowds in public areas of large cities. We manage this with light installations and the way people can interact with these installations.

We already ignited the first few sparks; We assembled a team of enthusiastic students, the mission and vision of our generation are set, there is an amazing project waiting to be executed, our network is ever-growing, we only miss one thing to set a fire from these sparks: a starting budget.

GLOW 2021, which will take place this November, will be a big milestone within this journey as it will be the first possibility to introduce our ideas, translated into a pilot installation to the public.  During that event, we want to show what we are capable of and give the possibility to experience our installation. From this first experience in public will we gather as much data and other insights as possible to make sure we can continue our way towards non-temporary installations for public spaces. However, November 2021 is not that far away. Currently, our team has no budget which causes challenges within logistics. It also makes us dependent of sponsors which lowers the pace of our grow. Furthermore, the realization of a high-tech installation, as we are working on, is expensive. That is why we started this crowdfunding; we ask you to support us in the way of a donation and help us towards that needed 4500 euros.

Feel free to reach out to us for more information.

Hopefully, we will see you during GLOW 2021!

The team started out in 2016 as an extracurricular committee from the study associations CHEOPS (TU/e Built Environment) and Lucid (TU/e Industrial Design) to build an installation for on the science route of GLOW 2016 on the campus which resulted in LumenUs. After this, team IGNITE was set and in 2018 the team showcased a pilot interactive light installation, called Loop for GLOW Eindhoven 2018 and Hypar on GLOW Eindhoven 2019 both recognizable by their construction from of cubes.

After completing Hypar, a new and independent collective called Hypar Collective was founded by the first generation of Team IGNITE to continue improving the modular system. All team members and materials were transferred, leaving the next generatijon of Team IGNITE with the team name and a clean sheet to start new projects.

The second generation of foundation Team IGNITE was founded in September 2020. We exist from 14 students from different faculties within Eindhoven university of Technology and Fontys Hogeschool. This second generation aims to improve societal issues with light installations by tackling the following Sustainable Development Goals:

  • SDG 3.4 (By 2030 reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being
  • SDG 11.7 (By 2030, provide universal access to safe, inclusive and accessible, green and public spaces, in particular for women and children, older persons and persons with disabilities).

The team strives to improve people’s wellbeing by creating social cohesion (e.g. connectedness and solidarity) between individuals within crowds in public areas of large cities.

The aim of creating social cohesion is to restore the lost connections in society (due to the COVID-19 pandemic [click here for more info]. Furthermore, team IGNITE strives to bring people together in public spaces of city environment. By creating social cohesion, the team aims to make public spaces more inclusive and safer for every member of society.

The team aims to create social cohesion in city environments by promoting well-being and making cities more inclusive and safer through playful, interactive lighting installations.
